uluslararasi istanbul film festivali
The 25th annual International Istanbul Film Festival starts in about a
week and a half, with a tempting lineup of Turkish and international
cinema. I'd particularly like to see this new film by director and
video-installation artist Kutlug Ataman. There's a "Human Rights in
Cinema" series (topics range from the plight of Kurdish women, to the
rise of neo-Nazis in Europe, and the stories of hijras, plus a
screening of Gaza Strip director James Longley's new film Iraq in
Fragments) and an impressive documentary lineup. Oh to be in Istanbul
in the spring.
